Orlando · Departure day
The hotel room is empty, the flight is hours away, and the suitcases have become the least enjoyable members of the family. Airport luggage storage can give you part of the day back—but only if collecting the bags fits comfortably before check-in. At Orlando International Airport, start with the retrieval time and total quote, then decide whether the outing is worth the extra airport trip.
This guide is for families with their own bags in hand after checkout or a cruise. A suitcase that an airline has delayed is a different problem. Neither a storage purchase nor an airport lost-item report replaces an airline baggage claim.
Find the counter, then check your departure terminal
MCO’s official FAQ identifies Hold My Luggage in Terminal B, Level 1. The airport’s operator link currently leads to Airpass Connections, whose Orlando page places the counter next to Dollar Car Rental. Use the official terminal maps to plan your route; a counter in Terminal B is not automatically beside your airline’s check-in desk.
There is another service with a similar name but a different purpose. MCO describes early baggage storage within Terminal C’s airline baggage system. That does not establish a public walk-up locker service or mean every airline will accept your suitcase whenever you arrive. Ask your airline for its earliest bag-acceptance time for your particular flight before paying someone else to hold it.
A late flight does not mean a late counter
The operator’s Orlando page lists daily hours of 9 a.m.–8 p.m. and says counter drop-off does not require a reservation. Service outside those hours is described as VIP concierge service starting at $125, plus storage and/or delivery. A 10 p.m. flight therefore needs a plan for collecting bags during regular hours or a separately confirmed arrangement.
That closing time is a useful first filter. If dinner, a show, or a long drive makes an on-time collection doubtful, shorten the outing or compare another bag-storage arrangement. Do not treat an unanswered question about after-hours collection as a booking.
Get a family total, not just a per-bag headline
The operator’s Orlando rate page, checked October 14, 2026, lists same-day storage at $10 per checked bag, $7 per travel carry-on or duffle bag, and $6 per small, personal or backpack item. Those are the site’s category labels; ask how it classifies your particular items. Its $8 checked-bag listing belongs to multiple-day storage, so do not substitute it for the same-day rate.
For a family carrying two checked bags and two carry-ons, the listed same-day storage subtotal is $10 + $10 + $7 + $7 = $34. Four checked bags would total $40. These are arithmetic examples before any applicable taxes, transport or extra service charges—not confirmed checkout quotes. The same rate page lists distance-based delivery at $35–$150 or more and after-hours concierge service from $125 plus bag, delivery or storage costs. Do not add either service unless the operator confirms what you need and its complete price.
For your comparison, ask for one total covering the exact number and type of items, date, collection time and location, taxes or service charges, and any delivery. Include a stroller only if you genuinely want to give it up for the day. A tired child may make that saving in luggage volume feel rather expensive.
Write the arithmetic as confirmed storage total + transport needed to drop off and collect + any confirmed extras. Then compare that amount with the hours you can actually enjoy. If the airport detour buys only a brief lunch, leaving bags at your hotel—if it agrees to hold them after checkout—may make more sense. Hotel permission, price and collection hours need their own check.
Know what happens if pickup slips
The operator’s FAQ says bags left beyond closing move off airport premises, with a $20 charge to return them to the A or B departure curb on Level 3. That stated return charge is not permission to plan a late pickup, a guaranteed immediate delivery, or a complete price for every situation.
Counter storage requires a liability waiver, and the site states no refunds. Its terms contain limitations and exclusions, so do not assume every item is covered. Before handing anything over, agree on the collection place and time and keep the claim information accessible. Keep passports, travel documents, medication needed during the day, valuables and essential electronics with you; this is a practical packing recommendation, not a coverage guarantee.
Choose an outing you can comfortably leave
For a family with younger children, the best last stop may be the one with an easy exit, a bathroom and a meal that does not require a long reservation. Check the day’s weather before making an outdoor plan, and leave enough flexibility for an indoor alternative. Storage solves the suitcase problem; it does not remove traffic, a missed shuttle, a slow lunch or a child who needs a rest.
A useful planning exercise is to name your return-to-airport time first, then subtract bag collection, any terminal transfer, road travel and a buffer you are comfortable with. Follow your airline’s current airport-arrival guidance and bag-drop and boarding deadlines. This article does not supply a universal “safe” number of minutes or suggest arriving at the bag-drop cutoff.
Choose airport storage when the quoted cost, regular-hours pickup and airport route all fit the day. Choose a hotel hold when returning there is easier and the hotel confirms it. If neither option leaves a relaxed margin, a quieter departure day is still a worthwhile finish to the trip.
Put the rest of departure day together
Plan a manageable Disney Springs visit with children if your confirmed bag-pickup and airport timeline leaves enough room. The guide separates free entry from meals and paid activities; it is not a promise that a half-day outing fits every flight.
Returning a rental car with a toll tag? Read the Visitor Toll Pass setup and return guide so tag return becomes part of the same departure checklist.
Research checked October 14, 2026. Listed same-day rates were verified; exact item-size classifications, taxes and complete additional fees remain unconfirmed. Recheck the operator’s current terms and your airline’s requirements before making arrangements.
