Updated October 8, 2026
Before you pack the stroller: Chalktoberfest 2026 has been canceled because of inclement weather. The organizer’s announcement takes priority over event calendars still advertising October 10–11 at Historic Marietta Square.
If your family planned a day around watching artists work and lunch downtown, treat the festival as canceled—not a rain-or-shine outing.
What is confirmed?
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Is the 2026 festival happening? | No. The official website announces cancellation. |
| Why are old hours still online? | The homepage still contains its original schedule below the cancellation notice. |
| Is there another 2026 weekend? | No replacement date is announced in the notice; it looks ahead to 2027. |
| Are refunds automatic? | The notice does not establish that. Check your order email and ticket-provider updates. |
Read the organizer’s cancellation notice.
If you already made reservations
Separate your bookings: an event ticket, hotel room and restaurant reservation may have different cancellation rules. Save confirmation numbers and check each deadline. An event cancellation does not automatically cancel a room.
For a paid festival ticket, look for an organizer or ticketing-company message. If your order does not explain the next step, use the support details on that original order. We have not verified a refund amount or processing timeline.
A replacement plan the kids can picture
Our suggestion: let each child choose between a short indoor outing and an art afternoon at home. For the home option, divide a large sheet of paper into squares. Everyone draws one scene with the same three colors. Join the squares into a family “street” and let the children name their miniature exhibition. Use supplies already in the house.
For a preschooler, use large squares and washable supplies; an older child can plan how two neighboring drawings connect. Give each artist a turn describing one detail. This is our activity suggestion, not an organized festival program.
Before you replace one booking with another
- Choose an indoor option if the weather remains unsettled.
- Check the venue’s own opening notice and ticket availability.
- Include parking and lunch in the total cost.
- Check whether advance tickets are refundable before paying.

Update the family calendar
Mark the festival “canceled” with the year, and update any shared plan so another parent does not forward an old promotional listing. Keeping the replacement outing flexible can save both money and frustration.
